The Week of the Young Child™ is an annual celebration sponsored by the National Association
for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC) April 12th -18th . This year, Utah’s higher
education institutions are joining with community and state leaders and all early
childhood organizations to “Celebrate Our Youngest Learners” by issuing a “Finger-paint
with a Child” challenge.
On Monday, President Pershing kicked off Week of the Young Child at the University
of Utah by issuing a challenge to all students, faculty and staff to visit one of
the 7 early care and education programs participating on campus.
We challenge you to celebrate our youngest learners by engaging with them in playful
and creative finger-painting activities and recommit to ensuring that every child
in Utah experiences the type of early environment—at home, at child care, at school,
and in the community—that will promote their early learning.
To locate an early care and education program on campus, please visit our webpage and find the one closest to you. All programs will have areas where the university
community can leave their handprints for learning!
Helping University students, faculty and staff select a quality program for their child is a priority for the Center for Child Care
and Family Resources. We offer a comprehensive guide to child care resources and information
that supports parents in their search for child care services.
